Urban Housing Potential Study

North Shropshire District Council has been working with consultants Baker Associates to undertake a housing potential study. The purpose of the study is to acquire up-to-date information about the potential future capacity of the built-up areas of North Shropshire. This will help to ensure the most effective use of brownfield land within the settlement boundaries and minimise the need for new housing to be built on greenfield sites.

The results of the study will inform the preparation of Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy and Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD).  The main body of the study can be downloaded from this website by clicking here. 

The appendices to the study can be made available for viewing at Edinburgh House, New Street, Wem.  Please contact the Development Strategy team to arrange to view the appendices or for any other information regarding the study.  The appendices can be downloaded from this website by clicking on the links below, although it should be noted that Appendix 5 is a very large file and will take more than one hour to download if using a dial-up connection.  Alternatively, the study and appendices may be provided on CD, for which a charge will be made of £10 inclusive of postage and packing. If you wish to purchase a CD copy please send a cheque for the appropriate amount, made payable to North Shropshire District Council, to: Development Strategy, North Shropshire District Council, Edinburgh House, New Street, Wem, Shropshire, SY4 5DB.
