Draft Code of Practice for the Agricultural Use of Poultry Manure

Consultation Document

As recommended by the North Shropshire District Council Cabinet at its meeting of 23rd June 2008, we are inviting views, by 1 September 2008, on the proposed Code of Practice for the Agricultural Use of Poultry Manure.  To see a copy of the Draft Code of Practice please click on the link below. 

The Code of Practice represents a best practice approach to the management of poultry manure to minimise nuisances.  Once adopted, it will help farmers and other businesses handling poultry manure to understand what they should be doing with regards to the management of their poultry manure and therefore minimise adverse impacts on the wider community.  It will also inform members of the public on what we expect from farmers in their handling and use of poultry manure.

We would welcome any comments you may have regarding this Draft Code of Practice.  Any such representations should be sent to Miss G Miller of the Environmental Services Department at NSDC by 1 September 2008. 

Any comments received will be considered by this department and, if appropriate, the document will be amended to take your comments into account.  If there are no or only minor proposed amendments then the Code of Practice will be adopted without further consultation.  If there are proposed material changes then they will be considered and a further report taken to Cabinet to seek approval for an additional period of consultation.

At the end of the consultation period, a summary of all responses will be made available on our website, but we will not attribute them to specific respondents.  If you do not consent to this, you must clearly request that your response be treated confidentially.  Any confidentiality disclaimer generated by your IT system in email responses will not be treated as such a request.
