Bulky Waste Collections and Fridge/Freezer Collections
Shropshire Waste Partnership are responsible for managing household waste and recycling services on behalf of North Shropshire District Council and other Shropshire authorities.
These services will be delivered on behalf of SWP by Veolia Environmental Services. Veolia will be responsible for producing and delivering your collection date calendars and other information leaflets.
Refuse
Shropshire Waste Partnership provide a bulky waste collection service.
Old fridges and freezers are taken to a special site where the harmful CFC gasses are safely removed and disposed of.
Some items of old furniture may be suitable for reuse, and it is recommended that these items are passed on to the North Shropshire Furniture Scheme - telephone 01939 234222 - for donating to needy families.

Payment
Payment is required in advance before a collection can be arranged and all items to be collected must be listed at the time of booking.
Payment Methods
- By debit or credit card - collection can be booked immediately
- By cheque or postal order - collection is booked when payment is received
- Cash payments can only be made by the issuing of a payment slip which can be taken by the customer to a NatWest Bank. This delays booking until the payment is confirmed.
- Payments cannot be made at District or Borough Council offices.
Items that cannot be collected:
- Items which would not be taken when moving house, such as fixtures and fittings (bathroom suites, kitchen units, doors, windows etc) - householders are advised to use a skip service or take to a Household Recycling Centre
- Household refuse, recyclables and garden waste whether bagged or loose - householders are advised to use the regular household collection container or take to a Household Recycling Centre.
- Building waste, fencing etc - use a skip service. Small quantities of DIY waste can be taken to a Household Recycling Centre.
- Hazardous materials such as garden chemicals and paints can be taken to a Household Recycling Centre. Telephone 0845 678 9009 for information on the disposal of asbestos.
- Waste from businesses - use an authorised collection contractor or licensed trade waste disposal authority.
- Oil tanks and liquid wastes. Telephone 0845 678 9009 if advice is required.
- Car parts - householders are advised to take these to a scrap metal dealer, or in the case of tyres to a tyre dealer.
Shropshire Waste Partnership and its contractors retain the right to refuse to collect the items on the grounds of health and safety or practicality.
Collection arrangements
- Customers will be notified in advance of the proposed collection day.
- Only the items listed at the time of booking will be collected. Additional items will be left.
- Items must be available for collection at the nearest possible point to the highway within the property. Staff are not allowed to enter customer's homes to remove items under any circumstances.
- All items to be collected must be empty - this includes fridge/freezers.
How can I dispose of other items?
You can take your household rubbish or items to a civic amenity site.

If you are taking these in a commercial or hire vehicle, or a trailer, you will need to have a permit to use the site. These are available from Shropshire County Council by calling 01743 253064.
