Green Waste Collection

Shropshire Waste Partnership are responsible for managing household waste and recycling services on behalf of North Shropshire District Council and other Shropshire authorities.

 

These services will be delivered on behalf of SWP by Veolia Environmental Services.  Veolia will be responsible for producing and delivering your collection date calendars and other information leaflets.

Information on what you can put in your green waste bin

Please put kitchen food waste as well as your garden waste and cardboard into the green bin.

 

Garden Waste Kitchen Waste
Grass cuttings
Weeds
Flowers
Leaves
Small woody waste and prunings
Vegetable peelings
Meat and fish
Tea bags
Any other cooked food (All kitchen food waste can be wrapped in newspaper which will also be composted)
Cardboard of any type including cereal and food boxes (but no cartons with plastic, wax or foil coatings)

Points to Remember

  • Do not put in any stones, rocks or garden pots. 
  • Do not put plastic, wax or foil coated card in the bin as the coating will stop it rotting.   Card which is not coated but printed on like cereal packets and most packaging can be put in with no problems. 
  • Remove staples and any packing tape.
  • Wrap food waste in newspaper or use an uncoated cardboard carton and put it in your Green Bin.  The paper or cardboard will be composted with the green and kitchen waste.

Your collection

The green bin and black boxes is collected on alternate weeks, on the same day of the week, to your refuse collection (grey bin).
