Local Development Scheme
Overview
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is a guide to the North Shropshire Local Development Framework. It sets out the documents that currently form the District's Development Plan and is the guide to the future programme of document production for North Shropshire. The LDS specifies a 3-year programme up to 2010 and also indicates work proposed beyond this period in more general terms.
The revised North Shropshire Local Development Scheme was brought into effect on 21 June 2007. An electronic copy of the LDS can be downloaded from this website by clicking here. Paper copies are available from:

The LDS identifies the following proposed or completed planning policy documents:
Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
The SCI details the Council's approach to involving key stakeholders and the community in the preparation of each Local Development Document and the consideration of planning applications.
Core Strategy Development Plan Document
The Core Strategy will set out the Councils long-term spatial vision, objectives and strategy for development within the District. The Core Strategy will set a framework for all subsequent local development documents.
Site Allocations Development Plan Document
The identification of specific sites for , employment and other uses to meet the development requirements and objectives of the Core Strategy. Key guidelines for the development of such sites will also be set out.
Proposals Map Development Plan Document
A mapped representation, with insets, that shows saved development plan policies and development plan document (DPD) policies. As a new DPD is adopted the Proposals Map must be updated to reflect changes in policy such as the deletion or revision of a policy.
Existing Plans
The current North Shropshire Local Plan 2000-2011 was adopted in December 2005 and its' policies will form part of the development plan until superseded by policies in new development plan documents. The LDS contains a list of the Council's existing development plan policies and this will be kept up to date in subsequent reviews of the LDS.
Review of the Local Development Scheme
It is expected that revision of the local development scheme will relate to the production of an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR). The AMR will be published by the Council before the end of December each year to assess the effectiveness of the Council's planning policies, report upon progress in achieving the milestones set out in the LDS for production of new planning policy documents and consider any changes that might be required. Possible integration of planning policy preparation with other Shropshire Districts, including the potential creation of a Unitary Authority for Shropshire with a single Core Strategy, would be expected to necessitate LDS revision.
