Citrus Longhorn Beetle (Anoplophora chinensis)

Following separate findings of the Citrus longhorn beetle, one in Lancashire, and others in the south of England in imported Chinese maple trees (Acers), people are asked to look out for this beetle. The beetle is listed in legislation as a serious plant pest and measures are required to control any findings.

The beetle is large (21-37mm) and black, with distinct white markings and long 'horns' or antennae. The antennae are longer than the body and are black with white bands. It could be found on a wide range of trees or shrubs.
