Strategic Flood Risk Assessment
The first stage of a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) has been conducted by Halcrow Ltd as part of the plan-making process for the Local Development Framework (LDF). North Shropshire District Council undertook this study jointly with the other Shropshire Districts and Shropshire County Council, and it was completed in September 2007.
This Phase 1 study (which can be downloaded from this website by clicking here) will support preparation of appropriate LDF policies for the management of flood risk and the allocation of appropriate sites for development through the application of the sequential test and exception test as required by Planning Policy Statement 25: Development and Flood Risk (PPS 25). The information should also inform the sustainability appraisals required on the plan and help identify the level of detail required for the subsequent site specific Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) in key locations.
Further detailed work on flood risk is likely to follow once site allocations for the North Shropshire area are considered in detail.
The appendices to this study can be made available for viewing at the District Council Offices, Edinburgh House, New Street, Wem. Please contact the Development Strategy team to arrange to view the appendices or for any other information regarding the study.
