Development Control

Development Control provides a statutory service within the authority, empowered to control development of land and property within the district. The main functions of the Development Control service are:

  • Processing Planning Applications
  • Providing informal advice to customers and responses to provisional enquiries
  • Providing advice on works to listed buildings and within Conservation Area
  • Controlling development of the district's historic area / properties
  • Negotiating planning obligations relevant to the development and necessary to achieve the wider objectives of the Council
  • Enforcement of planning and associated regulations
  • Administration of the above functions
