Food business - Healthy Eating Awards
The Shropshire Healthy Eating Award is a new scheme launched by all Environmental Health Departments across the country.
The aim of the award is to encourage restaurants, cafes and other food establishments to offer diners healthy options on their menus.
The Shropshire Healthy Eating Award will be given to premises that satisfy the following criteria:
- Provision and promotion of healthy food choices
- No smoking within the premises
- Good standards of food hygiene
- Staff trained in respect of food hygiene
- Breastfeeding friendly (gold & platinum level)
Under the scheme, premises can receive one of four different levels from Bronze to Platinum. Schemes displaying a Platinum award must have a menu consisting of at least 75% healthy options. Customers looking for a healthy choice will be able to identify an award winning venue through window stickers and a certificate on display in the main eating area.
