Council Tax 2008 -  2009

We need to collect enough money for the County Council, the West Mercia Police Authority, Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Authority, parish and town councils as well as our own local services. We collect some of this money through Council Tax, but we also have two other main sources of income - the Revenue Support Grant and Business Rates. The Government pays us the Revenue Support Grant from taxes it collects. We collect Business Rates and pay the money to the Government, who in turn pay back a proportion based on population.
