Street Cleaning Programme
Street Care and Cleaning
The Council is only responsible for cleansing adopted public highways and land under our direct control, that is open to the air and to which the public are entitled to have access.
The district extends to some 262 square miles and there are approximately 1650 kilometres (1025 miles) of highway.
The Council cleans the streets at different frequencies, depending on need. To help program this, the district has been divided into a number of land use zones which are cleaned on different frequencies i.e. daily, or every second week depending on the area.
