Shropshire Youth Games

The Shropshire Youth Games is an annual sporting event that has been running since 1998.  Held on an afternoon in June at RAF Cosford, the Games sees teams of children aged from 7 to 15, from the six districts within Shropshire, come together to take part in a multi-sport competition.

The Games are designed to encourage the County's young people to take part in and enjoy sport, and have been hugely popular since their introduction.  Events include athletics, aquathlon, badminton, basketball, football, hockey, netball, girls' and mixed tag rugby, tennis and synchronised swimming.  Winners are rewarded for their efforts at the end of the day in an official award ceremony.

The 2008 Youth Games took place on Saturday 28th June.  Events included tennis, table tennis, swimming, netball, tag rugby, hockey, rounders and badminton.  The North Shropshire team had a number of successes, coming second in the badminton and the boys hockey events and third in the girl's hockey, mixed and girls tag rugby, and rounders.   The full table of results can be seen at the foot of the page.
