Housing Register/Nominations

Can I apply for admission to the North Shropshire District Council Housing Register?

 

Housing Applications will be considered from any person who is 16 or over except for the following who are not eligible to join the register.

 

-         Certain applicants from abroad who are subject to immigration control

-         Applications from people where they or somebody who is going to be housed with them has been found guilty of unacceptable behaviour serious enough to make them unsuitable to be a tenant.

 

How do I apply?

 

Either apply online or telephone the Housing Options Team and ask for an application form to be sent to you.  Then complete and return the application form to the Housing Options Team at the Council Offices, Edinburgh House, New Street, Wem, Shropshire, SY4 5DB.

 

Housing Register Appeal Process

 

If you are not happy with decision relating to your Housing register application then you can appeal in writing or complete the appeals form to the Housing Options Team clearly stating your reasons for the appeal enclosing any relevant supporting information.

 

Nominations

 

If the Housing Association has a property becoming available it will request nominations from the Council then if you are top of the Councils Housing Register we will nominate you to a Housing Association if you have requested that you will consider Housing Association Accommodation.
