Historic Building Grants 2008
Grants for the repair of Historic Buildings are provided to help 
you carry out certain types of repairs to historic buildings.
The Conservation and Urban Design Section at North Shropshire
District Council and currently running two grant schemes:
The Historic Building Grant Scheme (HBG)
Works to historic buildings in Conservation Areas.
Partnership Schemes in Conservation Areas (PSCA)
Works to historic buildings within the Conservation Area of
Market Drayton.
The purpose of grants made under these schemes are to promote comprehensive repairs to the eligible building, taking into account any existing or potential defects, as well as the work immediately proposed. Repairs can include essential repairs to roofs, stonework, brickwork, pointing, timbers, structural joinery, shopfronts, windows, doors and rainwater goods. All of which should be in natural or traditional materials (eg natural stone, slates of British origin, cast iron etc). In the main interior repairs will not be grant aided, although such work can be eligible if it results directly from repairs to the structure, or is vital to the preservation of the structure, eg the repairs of principal floor members.

Please Note:
- if you start work before written approval is given you will not be eligible for a grant.
- a grant may be recovered if the building is sold within three years from the date of the grant offer.
- it may be a requirement that you employ an appropriately qualified professional advisor.
