Physical Activity
In addition to mainstream sport activities, there are a number of Physical Activity sessions running throughout the District, which are geared towards older people, people with health conditions that may prevent them from taking part in strenous exercise and those looking for a low-intensity form of exercise to help build up their fitness levels.
Physical Activities available include:

Exercise referral classes can be delivered to clients with a range of physical and mental health conditions such as obesity, muscular-skeletal disorder, psycological disorders, diabetes, respiratory diseases, joint replacement, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease, high/low blood pressure and anxiety/depression.
Classes are led by a qualified GP referral instructor and can include gym based activities, circuit training and low-level water workout. Clients can be referred to an exercise scheme by their local GP, practice nurse or health professional. However, clients may self-refer to one of the District Council's schemes if they wish, by requesting an application form from Leisure Services.

Walking For Health
There are a number of Walking for Health schemes available in North Shropshire, which offer a series of low to moderate intensity, flat local walks. These are free sessions, with no requirement to book in advance, and are an ideal form of 'accessible for all' activity in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Children are welcome on the walks, both in buggies and on foot. Suitable safety reins are recommended for young toddlers that wish to walk, as many of the routes are through towns and involve crossing roads. For the safety and comfort of all walkers, dogs are not permitted on Walking for Health walks.
