Conservation and Design

North Shropshire has a wealth of historic buildings and settlements set amongst a landscape which is rich and varied. Protection of the historic environment is vital to ensure that it continues for future generations to enjoy and learn from.
The Conservation and Design Section aim to protect and enhance the districts historic environment by encouraging the use of traditional building materials and the importance of regular maintenance. In addition to this the section seeks to advocate high quality building design throughout the district by providing professional advice.
The Conservation and Design Section deals with:
- Listed Buildings - Listed Building Consent
- Conservation Areas - Conservation Area Consent
- New build design - Consultants on new build in Conservation Areas, adjacent Listed Buildings and areas which have landscape character value
- Historic Building Grants - Grants for the Repair of Historic Buildings are provided to help you carry out certain types of repairs to historic buildings in conservation areas.
