A New Start for North Shropshire

During the summer of 2005, the Council carried out a public consultation exercise regarding a review of its decision making process.  This resulted in significant majority public support for the introduction of a Leader and Cabinet system.

The Council, at is meeting on 14th September 2005 therefore agreed that it should move towards a Leader and Cabinet model for its executive arrangements.

The Council is now carrying out a detailed revision of its Constitution and the procedures which a Leader and Cabinet system will require, and, subject to any comments or views from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, it is the intention to implement the new executive arrangements from the Annual Council meeting in May 2006.
