Local Plan / Local Development Framework
North Shropshire District Council's current planning policies are contained within the adopted North Shropshire Local Plan 2000-2011 (along with national and regional policies). These policies have been 'saved' and will continue to apply and provide guidance for decisions on planning applications until replaced by the new Development Plan Documents (DPD's) in the Local Development Framework (LDF).
On the 1st April 2009 the six Councils in Shropshire (North Shropshire District Council, Bridgnorth District Council, Oswestry Borough Council, Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, South Shropshire District Council and Shropshire County Council) will merge to create a single council for the whole county, to be called Shropshire Council. Future planning policies will be part of the Shropshire Local Development Famework (LDF) 2011-2026.
Work has started on the Shropshire LDF, the first document (DPD) of which will be the Core Strategy DPD. This will set the strategic policy framework for new development in Shropshire over the period 2011-2026. An initial consultation took place (between July and September 2008) on a series of topic papers examining key issues and this will be followed by an Issues and Options consultation in early 2009.
