The maximum grant that can be paid is £30,000 per application, with an extra discretionary sum of £3000.
The amount of grant will be decided by a test of financial resources (a means test) which will look at the income and capital of the disabled person and their spouse or partner.
What is the grant available for?
The grant is available for facilities and adaptations for a person with a disability to:
- Use the basic facilities within their home, including the kitchen, bathroom, lighting and heating facilities
- Improve access to and movement around their home
- Ensure the safety of a disabled person and those they live with
Common adaptations include widening doors, installing ramps, stair lifts and level-access showers.
The Occupational Therapist will decide what adaptations are necessary and appropriate.
Are there any conditions?
Yes. The Council may recover any equipment provided under the grant if no longer required during a five year period following completion of the works.
How do I apply?
