Dead animals on highways
The Council collects dogs and badgers which have been knocked down on the highway. If you are aware of a dead dog, then please call our helpline on 0845 270 2640 or email envhealth@northshropshiredc.gov.uk.
There is a tuberculosis monitoring service funded by DEFRA which checks for the presence of TB in badgers. We forward details about the location of dead badgers to them to collect. They should collect the animal by the end of the following day once notified.
We will collect dogs by the end of the following working day after notification, but usually on the day of notification. If the dog has a collar and tag we will retain that for a period of two weeks, so if any dog owners have the misfortune to lose a dog you can check with our Dog Warden on 01939 238460 to see if it has been reported.
