Gambling Act 2005 - 'Statement of Principles'
The introduction of the Gambling Act 2005 means that licensing laws are changing with regard to the regulation of Gambling in this country. Under the Gambling Act 2005, Local Authorities have to prepare and consult on a Policy that details how they are going to deal with applications for licences.
The five Shropshire Borough and District Licensing Authorities have joined together to produce a policy in relation to the Gambling Act 2005. Rather than calling it a Policy that could be confused with Policies issued under other legislation, the document is called 'Statement of Principles'.
The Statement of Principles was consulted on between 21 June and 30 September 2006 and during this time a number of representations were made. Details of these representations can be obtained from the Licensing Office, telephone 01939 232771.
On 20 December 2006, the Council adopted the Statement of Principles and it can be viewed by clicking on the link in related documents.
